Girl Disappointed Barack Obama Visited Her Washington School Instead of Beyoncé

As United States President Barack Obama visited Washington D.C. Inspired Teaching School last Thursday, a young girl expressed her disappointment at having had the politician visiting instead of a really important person: Beyoncé. The activity was a public service program part of September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

The girl from the school, named Madison, told the President that when she was given the information that a big figure was coming to her school, she "really wanted" it would be popular R&B and soul superstar Beyoncé. To this, President Obama amusedly responded that his own children, First Daughters Malia and Sasha, would have felt the same way and that he understood himself to be a disappointment to the young girl.

Trying to be nice, young Madison quickly made up for herself by saying that a visit from the world leader would be "even better" than getting the famous performer to talk and help at her school. Obama, laughing through the whole ordeal while still filling backpacks with books and toys called her bluff: "I appreciate you saying that in front of the press, even though it's not really true."

The entire incident was recorded by the press, as everyone in the room had fun hearing the young girl's unwilling quips. In the video, the First Lady is heard from another side of the room saying that it was "a disappointment" because the girl had expected the presidential visit would actually be Beyoncé dropping by. Later on, the First Lady joked: "I'd rather see Beyoncé."

However, young Madison was not too far off in her hopes that she would see Beyoncé: the wildly popular singer has actually worked with the White House in the past, showing up in schools as part of the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign, where she joined a group of kids as they worked on a choreography of one of her songs.
