Ginger, as little as it can be, holds numerous health benefits. It does not only soothe a sore throat, but it has anti-microbial properties as well.  These are only a few of the many benefits, but Healthy Holistic Living reported that it has the capability to kill cancer cells as well.

As per the website, Turmeric is already popular for curing cancer, but previous studies revealed that its cousin, ginger is actually more effective than some cancer killing medications in eliminating cancer cells. In addition to its capability to eliminate cancer cells, it has fewer side effects.

The website then added that a study conducted by Georgia State University was able to prove that ginger extracts effectively reduced the size of a prostate tumor by 56% in mice. In addition to its effectivity, it also reduced inflammation and it supplied the mice with life enhancing antioxidants.

Aside from the Georgia State University research, another study that was published in PLoS also found one component in ginger that is more advanced that the regular conventional cancer medication, chemotherapy. 6-shogaol is said to target the root cause of breast cancer malignancy.

The mother cells which are responsible in causing different 'daughter cells' are the ones responsible in creating the tumor. It only takes .2 to 1% of the cells to make up a tumor, but these cells are said to be 'almost immortal.'

These cancer cells are able to regenerate and renew, and they are also capable of being resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic agents, what's worse is that these cells are capable of splitting off and forming a new tumor colony.

In relation to these cancer facts, studies revealed that 6-shogaol, a compound found in ginger is working actively in eliminating cancer.  Researchers were able to discover that these cancer destroying compounds occur at concentrations that are 'non-toxic to non-cancer cells' which means that it is only focused on destroying the harmful cells. this being said, 6-shogaol, is more effective than chemo therapy, with minimal to zero side effects.
