Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen 2015: How will 'Fuller House' Explain Michelle Tanner's Absence?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won’t be in Netflix’s “Fuller House” and it has now been revealed how these absences will be explained.

The famous twins won’t be reprising their role as Michelle Tanner on Fuller House this spring, but that doesn’t mean their character’s story is going to be brushed over completely.

Us Weekly reports that the series will see Michelle Tanner, the character they jointly played in the long-running ABC series, now living in New York City and working on building her fashion empire.

This reasoning has a meta twist, as the Olsens actually do live in NYC and they have fashion lines like The Row and Elizabeth and James.

It’s a nice little ode to what the Olsen twins are up to in real life — they’ve made millions off their multiple fashion lines, and have decided to focus their careers strictly on that, rather than acting.

“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of ‘Fuller House,’ I know how much ‘Full House’ has meant to them, and they are still very much considered family,” series executive producer Robert L. Boyett said then.

“It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers," he added. "And I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes toward ‘Fuller House.’”

Although it’s always been made pretty clear that MK & A wouldn’t be reviving their acting careers for the show, fans were still holding out hope — that is, until Lori confirmed that they wouldn’t be in the first season at all.

“Fuller House” has a 13-episode order and will include stars Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Bob Saget, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin and Dave Coulier.

Fans will also be getting two new fresh faces on the show, and the news definitely doesn’t disappoint! Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy — who’ve found fame as pro dancers on Dancing With The Stars — will be making an appearance as love interests for Stephanie and DJ, respectively.
