'Captain America: Civil War' Spider-Man: Peter Parker And Ant-Man Will Bring The Comedy While Black Panther Decides Which Side He Is On

Anyone who has seen the trailer for 'Captain America: Civil War' can tell that the film will feature a lot of in-fighting between the superheroes, and that means that there will be a darker storyline to follow. Co-director Anthony Russo has just spoken to Omelette TV to confirm the dark tone of the movie.

"The film definitely has a more serious tone I think than any other Marvel movie yet, and that's kind of natural to the process because you're really gonna turn these heroes, who have been friends and partners, against one another," Russo said. "And if we're gonna have them fight for a whole movie to the end, there has to be a serious issue because these are smart people, they're likable people; they're not villains, they're good guys."

But that doesn't mean that 'Captain America: Civil War' will be completely serious.

"At the same time, not all the characters in the movie have the same investment in the conflict," Russo said. "There are certain characters that come into the story a little later who don't have the same baggage that the Avengers have in terms of what's going on in the film. So they don't have as much darkness to deal with in the film, so they can be a little lighter and more fun. I think the movie has a healthy balance between very serious, interesting and very surprising storytelling, and sort of light, fun wits and humor."

The only new characters coming into 'Captain America: Civil War' would be Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Anthony Russo confirmed that the two characters will be the much-needed comic relief that will appear later in the film.

But what about Black Panther? The character played by Chadwick Boseman doesn't seem to be the funny type and it looks like he is on Team Iron Man in the 'Captain America: Civil War' trailer. However, Anthony Russo has just confirmed that T'Challa will not be joining any team.

"Black Panther never quite chooses a side, he's sort of on his own side for the whole movie which makes him very cool in this storytelling," he said.

'Captain America: Civil War' is set to premiere on May 6, 2016.
