MyFitnessPal
Available for

MyFitnessPal is the most high-profile calorie counter, proven by its 80 million plus users around the world.

This application was bought by sports brand Under Armour for a whopping$475M in February of 2015. The app enables its users to count the calories of the food they eat-either by searching the brand of the food they are eating or by simply scanning the barcode of the product.

It has a huge database of more than 5 million nutritional facts and tables of products. Don't worry, the information it generates are accurate, proven by the helpful green-tick symbols marking those where their nutritional information has been verified.

Aside from the calorie counting feature, MyFitnessPal also tracks your workout. It can calculate the calories you burn after certain activities from running, swimming and even cleaning the house!

MyFitnessPal is free with advertising, but it has a premium tier costing £7.99 a month or £39.99 a year.

Lose It!
Available for Android / iOS Users

Lose It, as its name suggests, focus on making you lose your unwanted pounds. By assessing your personal information; height, weight, gender and desired pace of weight loss, the app will designate a daily limit and "budget" for your food intake.  

For your convenience, the app will put the date of your food consumption in graphs, including the nutrients you get from your meals. You can also browse menus and food items from restaurants, and instantly, they know the nutritional breakdown of that food.

For beginners, Lose It is free, but has a premium version that costs £29.99 a year.

Noom Coach
Available for Android / iOS Users

Just like the previous two, Noom Coach features the same basic features as its rivals: it will let you set your weight goal and the pace at which you want to achieve it-turtle, rabbit, or cheetah.

One of Noom Coach's advantages and key differences is its 'traffic-lights system'; the app classifies food into three categories: green, yellow and red.

According to their calorie counts, the food are classified. The app recommends consuming 30% green classified foods, 45% yellow and only 25% red.

For iOS users, Noom Coach is integrated with Apple's HealthKit, which combines all your health data from other apps. On the downside, the app doesn't have a social feature which makes you connect to your friends.

There is no free version of this app, the pro costs £7.99 a month, £14.99 every three months or £29.99 a year.

HAPIcoach
Available for Android / iOS users

If others focus on calorie counting and self tracking, HAPIcoach's approach is more on the other end, they have real nutritionists cast their opinion about the food and drinks you consume.

You will log in 10 meals in five days, not by ingredients and calories but by taking photos of them. Fun right? You will then be assessed by nutritionists, sending you an analysis on how well or bad you did.

You can also set your goals through this application, but it will also ask you to rate your motivation and how long you're willing to spend on the process every day.
