Hershey's To Release Carrot Cake Kisses for Easter

Hershey's is keeping up with the holidays as North America's largest chocolate manufacturer launched the Carrot Cake Hershey Kisses in time for the Easter celebration in a nod to the Easter bunny of Germanic lore, NBC News reports.

The new product will be made up of a white chocolate base with a carrot flavor and as People Magazine's Great Ideas Column describes it, is "certainly one of the more intriguing seasonal treats we've seen recently."

Other seasonal sweets that have hit stores in recent years include Easter grass Twizzlers, Easter Sundae M&Ms, marshmallow Peeps milk and Strawberry Shortcake M&Ms.

"Everyone loves new a new flavor and Hershey is no exception," Hershey representative Lauren Aardewijn told Mashable via email correspondence. "Carrot cake was chosen as a new flavor this season because it's fun and unique- carrots are the snack of choice for bunnies and there's nothing more symbolic of the season than the Easter Bunny! So we took the classic flavor of carrot cake, a seasonal favorite and combined it with the iconic Hershey's Kisses."

According to Time, the Internet first went wild with the news of the Carrot Cake Hershey Kisses when Reddit user BBQLays uploaded a photo of it on the social news networking service in mid - January.

Hershey's also released Kisses Deluxe during the Valentine's Day season, reports Bakersfield Californian. Kisses Deluxe had hazelnuts and crisped rice in the center. According to USA Today, the Deluxe product was first introduced in China last 2013 to test the market viability and ended up pushing sales to $100 million in the Asian country.

The Carrot Cake Hershey Kisses will be sold exclusively at Walmart stores for $3.24 for each nine-ounce bag.

The Hershey Company posted sales of $7.42 billion in 2015 and has its headquarters in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Its products are sold in approximately sixty countries worldwide.
