The New Matcha Tea Flavor for Pancakes to Hit Japanese Market

The Japanese consider pancakes as a dessert rather than a breakfast food. To quench the thirst for the dessert, a new flavor of pancake is introduced: Matcha. The Matcha tea is the favorite sweet flavor of the country. 

Showa Sangyo, the share market giant of the pancake mixes has come up with the new flavor, 'Wa Hotcake Mix'.

The word "Wa" here refers to the Japan. Each 300-gram (10.6-ounce), 400-yen (US$3.35) package comes with two 20-gram containers of matcha mitsu green tea syrup, according to Rocket News 24.

This syrup is prepared from the Uji Matcha, one of the most loved tea flavors of Japan.

This mix must be added in the recommended amount to the batter before you start cooking with the batter.

This Mix will add a green color to the batter. It will also add the taste of matches flavor and its sweet aroma to the batter.

The syrup can also be used to top on the pancakes by drizzling it over the pancakes instead of the maple syrup. This way it will give the users the double treat of enjoying the double matcha flavor, according to The Daily Meal.

The pancakes can further be made into a delicious treat by adding few extra ingredients to the pancakes along with the matcha flavor.

For this Showa sangyo have given a suggestion. It recommends the enhancement of the pancakes with the whipped cream or the sweet red beans (anko) in the top. The "Wa hotcake mix" will be released into the market on March 1.

For the desperate customers who couldn't wait, Sakura pancakes are released in the Japanese convenience stores this week.

They are made up of the Sakura syrup. It is also made up of the whipped cream and Sakura anko filled in between two pancakes.
