Oscars 2016 Controversy: Sam Smith vs Lady Gaga Battle Blows Up Twitter, Instagram

Move over, Lady Gaga!

Haters gonna hate, losers gonna lose!

Sam Smith fans mocked Lady Gaga's followers in Twitter and other social media sites while Lady Gaga's followers tweeted about how sad, pissed and unsatisfied they were with the results at the Oscars.

In Smith's speech, he said "I stand here as a proud, gay man and I hope one day we can all stand as equals," dedicating his trophy to the LGBT community. There have also been openly gay Academy winners in the past like Elton John, who won the best song for "The Lion King," and Bill Condon, who won for "Gods and Monsters."

For this year's Oscar's, Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith's "Spectre" song "Writing's On the Wall" won the best original song Oscar among the other nominees.  The popular and strong contenders of Smith are Lady Gaga and songwriter Diane Warren in the anti-rape ballad "Til It Happens To You" from the documentary "The Hunting Ground."
