Gluten-Free and Vegan Dishes Dominate Oscars 2016

Healthier versions of food or the food of the healthy have completely dominated the Hollywood awards season scene.

Now that the highly-anticipated awards ceremony is all over and done, the celebrities who have been preparing hard (not only in acting but physically speaking as well) can now relax, breathe out and eat and drink whatever they want.

Maybe the last "healthier" meal they will eat for a long time is the much raved about gluten free coconut pastries and finger lime avo toast that were served at the Governor's Ball prepared by Chef Wolfgang Puck

The Governor's Ball is the after awards gala dinner prepared for the stars, directors, writers and executives who graced the ceremony. Chef Wolfgang has been tapped by the Oscars to be the head chef and prepare a menu for 1,500 A-list guests for 22 consecutive years.

And this year, healthier versions of your favorite gourmet meals were served. Of the 50 dishes cooked, many are vegan, gluten free and without any dairy.

Vogue reported that superfoods such as root vegetable chips, sea salt and finger lime, taro root tacos and almond gazpacho among others, also made an appearance. The crew even prepared "healthy" versions of the dessert, which is a vegan dessert bar, gluten free coconut cupcakes and chocolate cherry cookies.

Despite the number of healthy food options present in the menu, of course, many still wanted to enjoy and cap the night with good, tasty, fatty but delicious food. After all, that night signaled the end of a strict diet for the majority of the celebrities.

Chef Wolfgang presented an entire chocolate buffet, complete with milk chocolate peanut butter ring dings, tiramisu push pops covered in melted chocolate and other sophisticated and decadent dessert. As for the main course, Wagyu short ribs, Fromage agnolotti with truffle and a gourmet mac and cheese was served.
