A disquieting video apparently showing an employee urinating all over the food production line of a plant belonging to Kellogg's Cereals has gone viral. Although the company has pulled down the 47-second clip originally posted on WorldStarUncut.com, it can be seen below this article.
Toward the end of the clip, which was sent to WWJ Newsradio by an anonymous listener, shows the man panning the camera upward to focus on a sign bearing Kellogg's logo.
The video is a shocking example of how various food manufacturers have been violating food safety norms despite increasing public as well as government concern over contamination of foods at various production facilities. Originally, it was believed that the video originated in Kellogg's plant in Battle Creek in Michigan, but later it was discovered that the video was recorded anonymously at the food manufacturer's facility in Memphis, Tennessee, way back in 2014, CBS Detroit reported.
Initially, the company did not confirm or deny the genuineness of the video, but later Kellogg Company spokesperson Kris Charles said that they are looking into the issue. In a statement, Charles said, "Kellogg is shocked as well as outraged by the maligning video and has taken the matter very seriously." He also said that the company has already taken up the issue with regulators and law enforcement authorities and they themselves are probing the matter thoroughly.
"Our investigation so far revealed that the video was recorded in 2014 or earlier. We will share more information as we learn more," Heavy.com quoted Charles as stating.
Meanwhile, another statement issued by company was shared by WREG Memphis. This statement says that the initial probe into the matter by the company revealed that the video was recorded at its facility in Memphis, TN. It further stated that the products that may have been affected due to the incident may Rice Krispies Treats cereal, Rice Krispies Treats and puffed rice cake products. It is likely that all these products had passed their expiry dates, the statement added.
As the news and video appeared on Reddit, users expressed shock and disgust. A Reddit user going by the name KennyDuit wrote, "That's disgusting not even funny...I don't even eat Kelloggs, but that's a real dirt bag not happy with his own life." Another user with the screen name WorldStarPolice commented, "Shouldn't places that deal with food like this have cameras everywhere? Just a thought."
