According to Sora News, it was last year that Sailor Moon themed cafes opened in Japan. The first was Cafe Talisman in Osaka, which unfortunately closed down due to financial issues.

Tokyo's immensely popular cafe Shining Moon also closed down earlier in the year due to COVID-19.

This year, according to CBR, a series of Sailor Moon-themed cafés will be opening in Japan by month end to celebrate the release of Sailor Moon Eternal in theaters.

Sailor Moon Eternal is a two-part continuation from the reboot of Sailor Moon Crystal. Related reports say that its release was delayed due to COVID-19. For eager fans, the first half will be released on January 8 and the second half on February 11 in Japanese theaters. As a way of getting fans more excited, opening several Sailor Moon themed cafes was a great strategy. These pop-up cafes can be found in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Okinawa, and Hokkaido. The list of these pop-up cafes and their opening dates are as follows:

  • Tokyo Solamachi - From December 24, 2020 to February 21, 2021
  • Tokyo Shinjuku Lumine Est - From January 1, 2021 to February 28, 2021

The food is meticulously designed and does not only represent the characters' culinary taste, but it is also balanced with decorative garnishes and touches of their relevant color.

The main dishes on the meal and dessert menu includes the Yogurt Bowl with a Surfacing Rabbit Moon, Ami's Aqua Sparkling Parfait, and Rei's Vivid Salmon Chirashizushi.

It is also worth mentioning that this cafe serves a phenomenal line up of teas. Michiru's tea set is green tea, and Haruka's is chamomile, while Setsuna's is roasted green tea. Other hot beverages include Mamoru's Cafe Latte, served with Chocolate, and Pegasus' Mysterious Drink.

To make the whole campaign more inviting, Sailor Moon has teamed up with LGBTQ fashion icon Wataru Linda Igarashi to create a line of gorgeous pastel-tone merchandise.

This line-up's real gems are the accessories, stationery, and fashion items, which will be on sale from February 1.
