Kmart Black Friday 2014: It's not exactly a surprise that Kmart and Sears, both owned by Sears Holdings Corp. are trying to draw more costumers to their stores. Therefore, they will be opening one hour earlier than last year.
Today, a statement was released. It featured clearly that Kmart and Sears would be opening "earlier than ever." This selection of time stands for:
"Sears: Open from 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 to close on Business on Friday, Nov. 28.
Kmart: Open from 6 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 to midnight on Friday, Nov. 28"
This means that Kmart will be open for a quantity of 42 hours straight, which is one hour longer than last year, ABC News noted. Basically, Kmart is going for more this year.
The stores decided to open one hour earlier and close one hour later. Which leads to one obvious thought, apart from the shopping spree that is calculated for all that amount of time. What happens to the workers?
Apparently, a Kmart and Sears spokesperson has answered an email to The Huffington Post, stating that the workers on those days will be the seasonal associates. Also, other staff who actually volunteered to work on the holiday.
And for them no to feel dejected at the prospect of working then, they will be compensated with a "holiday pay."
Kmart and Sears wouldn't be the only stores opening early or staying all day during Black Friday. In the Twitter account dedicated to the holiday, JCPenney posted today that they plan to open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Macy's is opening at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for Black Friday sales as well.
There are a lot of stores trying to open earlier and stay for more hours to increase their finances during the awaited holiday.
Still, Kmart might be up to the moment the one betting on more with the 42 hours straight in business.
