Nancy Grace Sued After Airing Show With ‘Selfie Stalker’ Case: ‘This Is A Textbook Serial Killer’s Calling Card’

Nancy Grace Sued - A man from Boulder has filed a law suit against the TV host Nancy Grace due to a defamation of his name.

The entire situation is a rather bizarre one. Back in Jan. 29, the Denver Metro Crime Stoppers released the photograph of Ben Seibert and blamed him for a crime.

A woman called the police and said that a man had entered her home and taken a "selfie" with her phone. Then, he had supposedly left. Due to this alarming message, the Crime Stoppers released the "selfie" that was in the woman's phone.

Later on, it was clarified that Ben Seibert hadn't entered her home and the picture wasn't even taken at the woman's place. It was on his Facebook page and it got to her phone by unknown means, the Huffington Post noted.

Apparently, Seibert was working in California at the time and found out about the case because his friends told him that he was being associated with the Denver crime.

He called the police on Feb. 8 and notified the authorities that he didn't commit any crime. He wasn't charged.

What the lawsuit states is that Nancy Grace was notified by the police about the falseness of the news and still, she decided to air it. the law suit asks for $100,000 in damages.

Crime Stoppers was also mentioned in the law suit, it seems.

"When we heard there was a mistake, or that it had been retracted, we pulled it off Facebook. We pulled it off Twitter. We pulled it off our website," Mike Mills, the board president from Crime Stoppers said.

Still, the main target of the law suit is Nancy Grace, who took the story to the nationally televised show on HLN.

"This is a textbook serial killer's calling card," she stated and USA Today shared.

After this broadcast, Seibert had a hard time as he was called a rapist, a killer, etc. Now, he asks for a retribution for the defamation of his name to Nancy Grace, among others.
