Walmart ‘Urgent’ Memo To Improve Products In Grocery Store

Walmart 'Urgent' Memo - Walmart's managers across USA apparently got a memo where they were requested to improve the quality of products and service in the stores.

It was sent on Oct. 2, according to the NY Times and the main remainder is to keep the sales up. It seems like for some time now, Walmart's been failing and receiving different complains from costumers.

Some of the main points in the guideline provided to the managers were: discounting aging meat and baked goods, in order to actually sell them. When costumers see that a product is older than the other, they tend to doubt buying it.

Still, if the product was at a considerable price, the buying of it might take place anyway. That's what Walmart is focused on.

Another important issue in the "urgent" memo is to find creative ways to get the clearance of the products, the Huffington Post noted.

"Our CEO has been vocal about our need to improve in this (fresh foods) category. We know it's very important to our customer and... to us as the largest grocer in U.S.," Deisha Barnett, Walmart's spokeswoman, said about the memo.

Another fact about this "urgent" memo is that it was leaked by one manager who was unsatisfied with understaffing in the store. A problem that Walmart faces is that in order to keep the budget tight, people who could take care of these problems are not hired.

Basically, the people that work at Walmart have a lot to do and are with their "hands full." To keep the place in perfect shape and the products as well, more people would be needed.

One last detail the memo mentioned was to "rotate" dairy products and eggs. This stands for removing the expired items and adding new stock at the bottom and at the back of display cases, Reuters noted.
