Is No Man's Sky Planning a Surprise Release?

A big new rumor regarding the release date of Hello Games' highly anticipated title No Man's Sky has just surfaced.

According to Tidux, an anonymous industry insider with a positive track record of breaking big news, the release date and price for the space exploration game, which has been confirmed for the PlayStation 4 and PC, is set to be revealed on October 27 during Sony's presentation at Paris Games Week.

The tipster was one of the first to predict that the company would reveal gameplay footage of The Order 1883 at last year's E3. Back in April, he also announced that Fallout 4 would be released this year - more than a month before the game's official unveiling in June.

A succeeding rumor proceeded to take Tidux's scoop even further, suggesting that October 27 is the game's actual release date. Forbes Magazine's Erik Kain received an email from a reader who tried to pre-order the game from Amazon UK. The message indicates that the game's expected delivery date is October 27.

Game journalists around the web have pointed out that the date happens to be the release date of Halo 5: Guardians; an incredibly hyped game releasing exclusively on Sony's rival platform, Microsoft's Xbox One.

Flash releases aren't a common thing in the video game industry, but a move like this would be a way for Sony to steal buzz from Microsoft during the release of its flagship title for the holiday season.

No Man's Sky has been making the rounds in the mainstream media lately. Last week, Hello Games' founder Sean Murray appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to show off his creation. Could this publicity push be a hint? We'll have to wait and see.
