'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' Release Date And The Reviews, Already

'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' - It's no real surprise that this is the last release to end a six-movie journey that Peter Jackson began in 2001.

That year, "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" got released and thirteen years later, "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" is concluding the series.

The release date for said movie is Dec. 17. In other words, it's today. Still, on Dec. 16 there were Tuesday night previews at 3,100 theaters, according to Deadline.

During that day, "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" made as much as $11.2 million in the 7 pm previews. This number succeeded over last year's "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," which made $8 million.

By Friday, "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies will be in 3,875 venues and 85 percent of these can play the movie in 3D or another premium large format. In other words, Peter Jackson had a great start with the last release of Tolkien's adaptations.

It's been stated already by Forbes that all the "Hobbit" releases and "Lord of The Rings" did great on the box office so this should be no exception. As a matter of fact, given that this is the last "goodbye" to the middle earth legendary saga, even more is expected.

Still, until next Monday, not a lot can effectively be calculated and be accurate. What can be said is that apparently, the last release lacks in certain aspects according to different sources.

For instance, Rolling Stone hit a hard note on that very sense.

"If you haven't read Tolkien and seen the previous two films, you will be lost at 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.' I've done all the prep work and I still struggled," were some of the words shared.

"The Lord of the Rings trilogy will always have a place in movie history. 'The Hobbit' is a footnote and, for me, easy to forget," were the final conclusions and a harsh review on "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies."
