Con Man Web Series: Alan Tudyk And Nathan Fillion Reunite For Comedy Based On ‘Firefly’ Experience [VIDEO]

Ever since the show's original short-lived airing in 2003, "Firefly" has gained massive following and turned into a cultural phenomenon, perpetually on the list of shows that were canceled way too soon; now, two of its stars team up for the "Con Man" web series, a completely meta show that's about the Joss Whedon series but not quite!

More than a decade after the original episodes of "Firefly," most of its cast has become more famous through other projects, like Morena Baccarin in "Homeland" and soon "Deadpool," Christina Hendricks in "Mad Men" and Nathan Fillion in "Castle" - but the "Con Man" web series brings at least two of its most beloved stars back!

According to Deadline, the "Con Man" web series is a project developed jointly by Fillion and Alan Tudyk, who has starred in many voice acting projects since the show first aired, who played Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Hoban "Wash" Washburne on the series respectively.

The "Con Man" web series is written as a comedy, telling the story of an actor who once starred in a science fiction show that was canceled too soon and now lives from making appearances in conventions.

In the show, Tudyk will play one of the actors of fictional science fiction show "Spectrum" who hasn't done much since, while Fillion's character, who was also on the fictional series, plays a now-successful movie star.

Certainly, the series borrows a few aspects from reality!

The two actors exposed the "Con Man" web series premise on an Indiegogo campaign, and, as Digital Trends reports, fans were only too quick to respond: only two days after the campaign was launched last month, it had already tripled its initial goal and it's already set to have 11 episodes - barely 3 less than the entire run of "Firefly."

According to Entertainment Weekly, the two actors stated that the "Con Man" web series was "the quickest way" to see both of them back on a spaceship after the release of the follow-up film "Serenity" - and fans can't wait to hear more!
