Sandra Lee Cancer Battle: Finally Home After Double Mastectomy

The fight against breast cancer continues for TV chef Sandra Lee, as she has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing a double mastectomy. The Food Network star returned to her Lilly Pond home May 25, Monday, May with her sister Kimber and boyfriend, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Two weeks ago, the 48-year old culinary host announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, according to E! Online. Prior to her recent surgery, she previously had a lumpectomy and was advised to undergo a six to eight weeks of radiation therapy.

During her appearance on Good Morning America, Lee said that she did not even cry, but was stunned. "You know, and that's just how life turns. It turns on a dime.", she said.

Lee and her 57-year old boyfriend have been living together for 10 years, residing in Lee's six-bedroom house in New Castle, New York.

On Facebook, the lifestyle host posted a message with a photo of her and Andrew Monday. They two were seated on ther outdoor sofa with one of their pet birds, Phoenix.

"Home after a long week in the hospital, so happy to be in my own backyard. There is no place like home! #HappyMemorialDay"

Sandra's team has been updating fans with her health condition, while also thanking prominent people in the industry who have helped the star. A few names that were included on a post on her official Facebook page were Elton John, David Fursnish, Rita Wilson, John Bon Jovi, Martha Stewart, Judith Light, Mario Batali, Hilary Gumbel, Jane Fonda, Dr. Oz and Christina Apelgate.

The host is still regaining her strength, as she is encouraged by her boyfriend and sister to eat more for a faster recovery.

Besides appearing on TV, Sandra Lee is also a published author of 25 books. One of her best-selling titles is "Semi-Homemade: Cool Kids Cooking," released in 2006.
