‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Author George R.R. Martin Finished Book 6, Will Jon Snow Live?

Ever since the 2011 release of the HBO megahit epic show "Game of Thrones," George R.R. Martin's saga of "A Song of Ice and Fire" has turned into a viral phenomenon, though it's been just as much time since the last book of the series was written - but now there are rumors of an impending "Winds of Winter" release date.

According to Day Herald, there are new rumors that the book is currently finished and there will be a new "Winds of Winter" release date in the next few weeks, after it was announced that Martin will be attending San Diego Comic-Con, where he will supposedly make the announcement.

Cross Map reports that the rumors of an impending "Winds of Winter" release date were fueled when Jack Bender, who will be directing two episodes in the sixth season of "Game of Thrones," was part of a Reddit Ask Me Anything session where he was asked what he knew about the upcoming book, and fans went wild when he said he had.

However, fan website Watchers on the Wall tore dreams regarding an official "Winds of Winter" release date after confirming having spoken to a "very reliable source" that said the TV director hasn't seen any drafts of advanced copies of the book, and must have been confusing it with the outline for the show's sixth season, which will begin filming later this year.

Ever the killjoy, Martin himself addressed rumors of a "Winds of Winter" release date on his own blog, where a fan asked him on the comments if it was true he had finished the book.

"Never believe rumors," Martin wrote simply. "I've said that a thousand times."

In the past few weeks, conspiracy theories have surrounded "Game of Thrones" as the series caught up with the books, with major character Jon Snow (Kit Harington) seemingly getting killed in the last episode.

For now, there's still no foreseeable "Winds of Winter" release date, so fans will have to watch the sixth season of the show to find out more about the story.
