Breakfast Skipping is a Big NO- NO!

Perhaps one of the most overlooked and skipped meals of the day is Breakfast. This usually is the case with people who have a fast paced lifestyle. Much too often these people hurry in the morning to go to school or work and chooses to have a quick munch instead of sitting down to have a proper breakfast.

According to a recent research, in Britain most do not have the luxury of time to eat the first meal of the day, the number of which actually doubled in the last three years.

Flahavan, an oat-producer, administered a quiz and found out that two out of five people skipped breakfast and have omitted the first meal of the day in their daily schedule.

In the said quiz, about half of the 2,000 subjects consumed their first meal when they get up while in Scotland, 70 percent of the subjects grabbed munchies after getting up in the morning.

There is a reason why breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day. Skipping of which can cause a lot of bad effects to the body. More than feeling hungry easily during the day, when one skips breakfast, the body is actually denied of the energy it needs to jump start the day ahead.

When skipped regularly, moods become erratic and exhaustion and irritability are usually the result. Since the body's need for energy is diminished, the tendency of the body is to compensate, resulting to cravings for sweets and sugar infused snacks to take away the sluggish feeling.

Among the more popular breakfast foods are porridge, toast and cereal. Fry ups are common and traditional and mostly consumed once every two weeks.

The most common problem that people who live in the fast lane encounter, is that preparing breakfast can be time consuming. A solution offered by health consultants is to prepare breakfast the night before.

Bircher muesli is a very ideal breakfast treat and the plus side of which is that the muesli can be made in big batches instead of having to prepare one batch each night.

Here is how to make the delectable 2 portions of muesli:

Take 50g of oats and squeeze fresh orange juice over it. Grate a green apple into the pot and mix them all up together adding a generous amount of low-fat Greek yoghurt. Cranberries and blueberries or any fruit of choice can be added as toppings, place it into the refrigerator to cool.
