Here are More Reasons Why You Need to Eat Eggs

Since it's nearly Easter, eggs will definitely be part of most meals in the coming days. No, we're not talking about chocolate eggs hidden by the Easter bunny, rather, we're referring to real eggs. According to recent studies, eggs were found to be more than just a breakfast staple: it is considered a superfood, thanks to a number of factors.

Whether you're having an omelette, a sunny-side-up one, or adding it to another meal, there are now more reasons why you should dine in and enjoy it.

Eggs are power-packed with nutrients

We already know that eggs are filled with certain nutrients, but specifically, what are they? Here's what Dr. Juliet Gray, nutritionist and advisor to the British Egg Information Service, had to say about eggs in an interview with BT.com:

"Eggs are a really nutritious food, providing an excellent range of micronutrients. As well as being rich in vitamin D, essential for normal bones and teeth and for both muscle and immune system function, they are also a good source of DHA - one of the omega 3 fatty acids - that contributes to normal brain and eye function."

You can find more info about eggs' nutritional facts on the service's website

They're full of protein

Underneath the fragile eggshells are five grams of protein - arguably one of the most important nutrients the human body needs. It plays a crucial role in muscle growth and repair, making it a must for bodybuilders and those looking to bulk up. Moreover, it is useful in weight management, given that it helps you feel fuller for longer periods.

They're low in calories

Speaking of being a valuable asset in one's attempts to manage weight, eggs are actually low in calories, especially if they are hard boiled. A single medium-sized egg makes a great snack and keeps you from feeling guilty about it since it only contains a measly 65 calories - fewer compared to most types of junk food and other unhealthy snacks.

So, when planning out your next trip to the grocery store, be sure to add eggs to the cart!
