UK In Fourth Week Of Coronavirus Lockdown As Death Toll Exceeds 10,000 SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND - APRIL 19: A KFC restaurant is seen closed due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on April 19, 2020 in Southampton, England. In a press conference on Thursday, First Secretary of State Dominic Raab announced that the lockdown will remain in place for at least 3 more weeks. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has spread to many countries across the world, claiming over 140,000 lives and infecting more than 2 million people.

In the early season of the COVID-19 pandemic, KFC was among the many restaurants to help nourish the health workers across America. In March, KFC already donated one million pieces of chicken to its franchisees to give out to nurses, doctors, and other frontline workers in several local communities.

According to MSN, the chain's initiative honors educators heading back to classrooms even though the coronavirus pandemic is ongoing. KFC will send one million more pieces of chicken to franchises to fry up. This time, the donations will be delivered to local teachers who are teaching in-person or virtually, representing the new wave of frontline workers in America.

According to PRNewsWire, Andrea Zahumensky, KFC U.S. CMO said in a statement: "As a working mother of three young children who had to finish out the school year virtually, I have more respect and appreciation than ever for the time, energy, and dedication that teachers give to their students."

Zahumensky added that as teachers prepare for a new school year, whether in the classroom or virtually, KFC wanted to help in a small way by providing delicious bucket meals so teachers can check dinners off to their to-do list. The generous chain is also asking the KFC fans to show their love for the teachers in their own lives. The appreciation of fans to teachers can be shown through a nomination of educators to receive a $20 KFC gift card that can purchase a bucket meal. Submission will start on Thursday, August 20.

Across all 50 states, KFC has more than 4,000 restaurants. Those restaurants weren't able to open for dine-in customers, but are offering other options like carry-out, drive-thru, or delivery service.

KFC also applies enhanced health safety measures to all restaurants, such as temperature checks for employees, frequent sanitizing, and requiring everyone to wear face masks.

Meanwhile, KFC Australia revealed a never-before-seen chicken burger on the said "secret menu" that features a cheesy mozzarella patty served between two Zinger fillets. According to Daily Mail, the epic $11.95 Zinger Mozzarella Double hit restaurants across the country. However, diners can only order the item through KFC's app.

The KFC chicken burger improved the traditional burger with two ticks slabs of fried chicken with Zinger-coated mozzarella patty, lashings of mayonnaise, and tomato sauce smoky bacon.

KFC CMO Kristi Woolrych said, "Secret Menu? No idea what you're talking about (wink wink). For all our fans who may have this "Secret Menu" you talk about, we've gone bigger and better, taking our Zinger Mozzarella burger to the next level with the Zinger Mozzarella Double."

Woolrych added that the two KFC signature spicy Zinger fillets act as the bun and sandwich an oozing Zinger coated mozzarella patty. The chicken burger is only for the cheesiest of KFC fans.
