Eric Frein Capture: Notorious Fugitive Eric Frein Finally Seized After Six Weeks of Manhunt

Eric Frein Capture - Eric Frein, one of the most wanted fugitives by the FBI is finally in their custody. After more than six weeks of manhunt, the cop killer who was accused for killing Pennsylvania State Police trooper and wounding another in a September ambush was finally captured.

Frein, 31, was arrested by a U.S. Marshal's operating team at Birchwood Pocono Airpark in Tannersville, Monroe County inside a deserted airport. He surrendered peacefully without struggle as he was handcuffed using Pennsylvania State Trooper Corporal Bryon Dickson handcuffs of whom he is accused of killing.

Before Eric Frein was captured, he was spotted by a team of U.S. marshals in a field near the abandoned airport in Tannersville. Frein has been the target of Poconos-region massive manhunt involving over 1,000 law enforcement officers until he was finally arrested Thursday.

"He was definitely surprised," State police commissioner Frank Noonan said. "He gave up because he was caught and he had no choice but to give up." Frein is a military enthusiast who ambushed two state troopers on Sept. 12 leading to the fatal death of Corporal Bryon Dickson  and wounding of trooper Alex Douglass.

As Eric Frein was captured, Noonan also states, he had a mission to attack law enforcement. "If he got out of those woods, we were very concerned he would kill law enforcement and then civilians."

Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin stated during Eric Frein capture incident that he will charge Frein with possession of weapons of mass destruction, first degree murder, attempted murder and homicide of a law enforcement officer. He also added that he would seek death penalty for him.

Earlier on Sept. 24 before Eric Frein was captured, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said that Frein left empty cigarette packs and used diapers in the forests around Canadensis in Pennsylvania. That was the time he was tagged as 'Diaper Sniper' and hashtag '#DiaperSniper' was popularized on Twitter.

During Eric Frein capture incident, police officers had seized a book on sniper training, documents pertaining to his plans on attacks for years. They also traced his internet history in 2012 and 2013 exposing his access to information related to cell phone tracking, manhunt tactics and police raids.
