New McDonalds Slogan Lovin Beats Hatin, is The Slogan the Right Fit For McDonalds?

New McDonalds slogan lovin beats hatin stirs more comments and opinions than the fast food maker envisioned. Here's why the new slogan 'Lovin beats hatin' could potentially cause more hate than love.

McDonalds will on January kick start its year with a new slogan for the fast food chain. The fast food maker has been the brunt of many jokes and much criticism after a whirlwind of negativity was aimed at the fast food maker. In the face of increasing competition and negative publicity, including a viral You Tube video that shows McDonalds fries being smoked and the recent CBS Sunday morning rankings of the McDonalds burger as the worst tasting burger in America, the fast food McDonalds slogan Lovin beats hatin will seek to reverse the negative imagery.

McDonalds CEO Don Thompson stated that the slogan was meant to spread love in the age of internet hate. The slogan will be launched next year with an ad spot at the Super Bowl being announced, according to the Wall Street Journal. McDonalds will still retain its 'I'm Lovin it' slogan, which it has used as a catchphrase since 2003. It will remain its global slogan.

"Just about any and everyone will attack McDonald's for something," the McDonalds CEO said.

The marketing ploy comes just at a time when sales dropped 30% in the third quarter of last year. The struggling fast food maker was in need of resusciation. And it has found it in the new McDonalds slogan Lovin beats hatin.

However, even before the slogan is officially launched, it is already receiving plenty of negative backlash. Many people, reports CBS Moneywatch, have found the slogan too "negative" and "emotion laden." Begging the question, will there be a break for McDonalds?

"We're always working with our partners on great new creative," said a spokesperson. Whether the new McDonalds slogan Lovin beats hatin will change the fast food maker's fortunes, we shall wait and see.
