Nestlé reported opening its first research and development center in India on November 8,2012. R&D center to further its understanding of Indian consumers, traditional ingredients and local cuisine, and to provide scientific and technological expertise to the rest of its global business.
  • ConAgra Foods to Expand Frozen Potato Facility in Boardman, Oregon

    ConAgra Foods, Inc., based in Omaha, Nebraska announced on November 9,2012 expansion of its Lamb Weston frozen potato facility in Boardman, Oregon. This strategic investment estimated $200 million will add a new line to the plant - increasing capacity for making french fries and other frozen potato products - and is expected to create approximately 100 jobs for the region.
  • Hostess Facing Nationwide Strike - Selected Bakeries will be Closed

    Hostess Brands Inc. based in Irvng, Texas announced on November 12, 2012 that it will permanently close three bakeries as a result of a nationwide strike initiated on November 9 by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (Bakers Union) that has prevented the facilities from producing and delivering products.

    Ohio farmer Rob Joslin is not taking chances with his corn seed, despite assurances that seed companies emerged from this summer's devastating drought with adequate supplies.Joslin, who grows corn and soybeans in western Ohio, began buying seed in August, months earlier than usual, to lock in the best-yielding varieties. Farmers are "concerned about getting their seed varieties, especially corn," he said. "It may not be there come December 1."
