Einstein Bros. Bagels and Wisconsin-based Schreiber Foods have issued a voluntary recall of nearly 150 cases of Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread after mislabeled cups posed a potential life-threatening risk to people with almond allergies.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the cream cheese, sold in 6-ounce plastic cups, was incorrectly labeled as "Plain" on the cup while the lid correctly identified it as Honey Almond.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product," the FDA said in a press release.
A total of 144 cases were distributed to Einstein Bros. Bagels store locations across Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
The affected product carries a lot code of Best If Used By Jul 21, 2026 LO, FSN reported.
Customers who purchased the mismatched cream cheese are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Mislabeled Cream Cheese Cups Prompt Allergy
The recall was initiated after a shipment with a mismatched lid and cup was discovered. An investigation confirmed that this was a limited packaging issue and that it was contained to this specific product.
"Subsequent investigation indicates there was a limited packaging staging issue that was corrected," the FDA noted.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall, and the company emphasized that the problem is limited to this batch of Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread.
Schreiber Foods and Einstein Bros. are working quickly to ensure that affected products are removed from shelves and that consumers are aware of the potential risk.
According to FoxBusiness, the cream cheese comes in a convenient 6-ounce plastic cup with the Einstein Bros.
Bagels branding. While the lid correctly reads Honey Almond, the incorrect cup labeling could lead consumers to unknowingly ingest almonds, which could trigger severe allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Einstein Bros. Bagels and Schreiber Foods are encouraging all customers to check their products before consumption and to return any affected cups to stores immediately.
Consumers with almond allergies are urged to stay alert and confirm labels carefully when purchasing cream cheese or similar spreads.
