Hong Kong Cash Spill Traffic Motorists - In Hong Kong, an apparent crash that involved a security van which carried millions inside, left tons of money falling off onto a road.
The event took place on Wed. on Christmas Eve and while the money fell off the security van, motorists approached the Hong Kong road where this was happening and many seemingly grabbed money and ran away with it.
"You couldn't make it up. There were 20 or 30 people picking up cash from the road on Christmas Eve.
"They looked like school kids who knew they were being naughty, but thought: 'This is a once in a lifetime thing.' Everyone had the same look on their face," a witness said and The Telegraph noted.
Apparently, the cash spill involved 500 Hong Kong dollar notes and after the police arrived on the scene and controlled the situation, a number estimating $2 million was missing after the traffic situation, where motorists took their share.
The police had been called just before 2 pm and employees from G4S, the British security firm, were also seen at the scene.
But motorists and bystanders were seemingly not aware about the non-grabbing of the cash that spilled from the security van, as many were seen "sprinting" onto Gloucester Road, near Hong Kong's financial heart, to claim bundles of money.
"Anyone who picked up the cash concerned should hand it over to the police as soon as possible. Otherwise, they may have committed the crime of theft," said Wan Siu-hong, a district police officer and NY Times reported.
The cash spilling incredible situation stopped the traffic at Hong Kong's Gloucester Road. Motorists were going through it, and once the dollars spilled from the van, people stopped and ran towards it.
The authorities believe the cash could have been "dropped," but no sure facts are cleared out yet on the matter.
