6 Servings
Ingredients
 Buns
 2 tsp active dry yeast
 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
 1 tbsp butter, softened
 1 egg
 4 tsp sugar
 1/4 tsp salt
 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp raisins or dried fruits
 1/3 tsp ground cinnamon
 1 egg yolk
 1 tbsp water
 Icing
 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
 1/8 tsp vanilla extract
 3/4 tsp milk
Directions
 1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk.
 2. In a separate bowl, stir in butter, egg, sugar and salt. Add 3/4 cup flour, raisins and dried fruits, and cinnamon.
 3. Add to the yeast mixture and mix well. Stir in the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
 4. Transfer the dough to the floured surface. Knead until elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl. Cover with wrap; let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
 5. Punch dough down and shape into six two-inch balls. Place the balls two-inch apart from each other on a baking sheet. Using a sharp knife, cut a cross on top of each bun. Cover with wrap; let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
 6. Beat egg yolk and water; brush over the buns. Bake at 375 F until golden brown, for about 15 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
 7. Combine icing ingredients. Pipe a cross over the tops of each roll.
