After the release of last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," it became clear that there would be two separate and parallel storylines in the "X-Men" film universe, which would, of course, entail new casting choices for the upcoming movies: now, Alexandra Shipp's Storm, the character made famous in live-action by Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry.
Fans of the "X-Men" movies have been jumping around ever since the release of the new phase of the movies, the 2011 release of "X-Men: First Class" that starred James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrene as Mystique - now, Alexandra Shipp's Storm is to join the cast!
According to Indie Wire, the role of Alexandra Ship as Storm was announced through Twitter, after director Bryan Singer (also responsible for the Oscar-winning film "The Usual Suspects") told the world that there were new mutant actors cast, announcing Storm as well as a new Jean Grey (originally played by Famke Janssen) and Cyclops (originally played by James Marsden).
Of course, the other third of that triangle, Wolverine, has been continuously played by Australian Academy Award-nominated actor Hugh Jackman since the first "X-Men" movie in 2000. While he hasn't been confirmed yet, if there's a storyline involving Jean Grey and Cyclops, chances are he'll be there as well, at least playing a small role.
According to All Hip Hop, Alexandra Shipp's Storm cast comes only a few months after the actress was critically panned for her performance as Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B," which receive a lukewarm response from fans and critics alike, as well as being panned by the family of the famous singer.
As Just Jared reports, the other new actors are Tye Sheridan playing the role of Cyclops and Sophie Turner, famous for playing Samsa Stark in the HBO epic hit "Game of Thrones," will be taking the role of Jean Grey.
