‘Cinderella’ 2015 Review: Is Lily James Richard Madden Kenneth Branagh-Directed Live-Action ‘Cinderella’ Worth Watching? [VIDEO]

Fans of Disney classics and princesses have waited a long time for the release of the new live-action version of the 1959 rags-to-riches classic, and now the first "Cinderella" 2015 reviews are out: is the Kenneth Branagh-directed Disney film worth the watch?

The first "Cinderella" 2015 reviews are out as the movie makes its way into US screens, with an all star cast, including "Downton Abbey" beauty Lily James as title character Ella, "Game of Thrones" alum Richard Madden as the prince, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett as the stepmother, "Agent Carter" star Hayley Atwell as Cinderella's mother and Helena Bonham-Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

According to Screen Rant's "Cinderella" 2015 review, the new adaptation's a huge success story-wise, as it gives more nuance to the often maligned characters of the classic fairy tale, including the stepmother, finding a "serviceable balance between cartoon spirit and live-action drama," in a movie that gives both children and grown-ups a great cinematic experience.

Forbes' "Cinderella" 2015 review is also favorable, calling the Branagh-directed film "a winning combination of heart-and-art," as it features great characters with a lot of appeal, as well as realistic emotions, in a move that doesn't match up to last year's "Maleficent" that, although a box office smash, came out to theaters with mixed-to-poor reviews.

In the meantime, Slash Film's "Cinderella" 2015 review praises the movie for being modern adaptations of classic films like "Malificent," "Oz the Great and Powerful" and even Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" attempted to get away from: while these movies wanted to give a new element to an already popular and beloved story, the new adaptation of the Disney princess classic delivers a great retell of this story, as it makes "the old feel fresh again."

The film was penned by Chris Weitz, the screenwriter responsible for the "About A Boy" adaptation (both the film and the series), "The Golden Compass" and the coming "Star Wars" tie-in film "Rogue One."

In all, every "Cinderella" 2015 review seems to point out that the movie's definitely worth the watch - it's even got an 82 percent Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes! Watch the trailer below.
