Olivia Munn Psylocke: New Mutant Joins J-Law, Nicholas Hoult In ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’!

It seems like there's news about more superhero action in movies and television shows just about every week, particularly with Marvel; and although the "X-Men" franchise isn't owned by Disney Pictures like the "Avengers," it's equally exciting to see what's next for the upcoming film, "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will be the last for stars Jennifer Lawrence and her ex Nicholas Hoult - but the first for Olivia Munn's Psylocke!

A few months back, before the official announcement of the casting of Olivia Munna as Psylocke, Food World News reported that there were a few more mutant additions to the upcoming film, including Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and "Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.

According to CNN, as it had happened in the previous cases, the announcement of Olivia Munn as Psylocke happened through director Bryan Singer's Twitter account, tweeting that he was excited to welcome Munn in the character, whose non-chosen name is Betsy Braddock.

AV Club reports that Olivia Munn's Psylocke, a mutant with psychic powers and the sister of Captain Britain, has a fairly complicated story in the Marvel comic books: at some point of the storyline, her mind ended up inside the body of a Japanese ninja, and she used her powers to create swords and knives, all of them purple.

Just about every news outlets who've reported on the news of Olivia Munn as Psylocke seem to hope that entire storyline will be scraped and ultimately not used in the film.

Munn's IMDb credits date back to 2004, and she's been a part of some major projects in the past, including the Channing Tatum vehicle "Magic Mike," last year's "Deliver Us from Evil" and this year's Johnny Depp film "Mortdecai" - though she's most famous for her role in the critically acclaimed series "The Newsroom."

As Variety reports, Olivia Munn's Psylocke will join regular cast member such as Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.
