Samantha Cristoforetti 2015: Ever Wonder About Space Toilets? ISS Italian Astronaut Shows How It’s Done In Space [VIDEO]

It seems like Samantha Cristoforetti's 2015 has turned the Italian astronaut into something of a rock star in space, as she's turned into a viral sensation in social media and YouTube over her fantastic photos and videos showing how life is like at the International Space Station.

Recently, Food World News reported that Samantha Cristoforetti's 2015 marked a fantastic highlight in the astronaut's life, as she became the first human being to drink (and make) espresso in space, when months after being sent to the ISS she finally received the ISSpresso machine that had gotten delayed due to more recent deliveries to the station.

It wasn't Samantha Cristoforetti's 2015 that saw her reaching the ISS, as she was launched from Kazakhstan there by the European Space Agency into space back in November and hasn't been in Earth this year ... and yet, she's become a social media personality all the way up there!

According to Time Magazine, Samantha Cristoforetti's 2015 return to Earth is just around the corner, as she's set to come back into the planet later this week - but not before she shows the world a little more from her adventures in space, including how she and her fellow astronauts use the toilet.

Space toilets are something of a running gag on the CBS hit sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," as one of the character, an engineer, supposedly created some for NASA - but now, Samantha Cristoforetti's 2015 video busts all the myths!

The New York Daily News reports that, in the video, Cristoforetti explains that, when astronauts have to pee, they do it into a rubber hose that uses suction to collect liquids, which makes sense considering otherwise it would float due to the zero gravity conditions of the ISS.

Later, the urine is transported to the UPA (Urine Processing Assembly), where it's ultimately recycled into drinkable water. CNBC reports that waste is stored in containers on the ISS and then hauled on the regular missions.
