FIFA 16: Female Players To Be Included For The First Time

EA Sports announced that the 16th version of their popular soccer game FIFA will include characters based on women players from 12 national teams.

Among the females who will be featured for the first time in this video game's history are football players Lisa De Vanna, Kyah Simon and Samantha Kerr. The three are all members of the Australian W-League.

According to senior producer Nick Channon, "This is one of the most important features we've ever added to our game."

The best players from the US, Canada and Germany teams are also included in the updated installment. However, because of licensing issues, developers were not able to get female Japanese players.

David Rutter, one of the vice presidents of the company, said, "Bringing some of the best women's players and teams in the world to our franchise is a massive event for EA Sports, and we are equally excited about bringing millions of fans a new way to play."

"We're making sure fans get an authentic experience when playing with women's national teams thanks to our innovative player capture and reference tools, as well as the sophisticated game-play platform which we will continue to innovate on in 'FIFA 16'," Rutter added.

The U.S. team's leader in goals scored Abby Wambach stated that they are all excited to see themselves in the game. They are also excited to see the reaction of the fans since this is the first time that they become a part of a sports video game.

'FIFA 16' is slated to be released in September this year.

The news comes in light of a recent scandal where 14 FIFA officials were arrested for charges of corruption that occurred in 1991. Among those prosecuted where two vice presidents.

According to EA Sports, the issue will not be a hindrance to the launch of 'FIFA 16'.
