All-New Powerpuff Girls Back on TV in 2016

Cartoon Network has announced that they are bringing back their '90s original series "Powerpuff Girls" next year, by providing a sneak peek during the Licensing Expo held in Las Vegas. 

According to Animation Magazine, the company gave attendees a little preview at the rebooted Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, the three heroines who fight crime in the TV series. The reboot will have Emmy winner Nick Jennings, creator of "Adventure Time," and Bob Boyle, the brains behind "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy" serve as executive producers.

'Powerpuff Girls' will also feature new voices for the main charactesr. Amanda Leighton will play the leader Blosson, Natalie Palamides will voice the tough Buttercup, while the sweet Bubbles will feature Kristen Li. Tom Kenny is slated to narrate the series and be the voice behind The Mayor. 

The worldwide announcement has also fostered partnerships between the animation studio and other companies to provide themed merchandise, from toys to book, and clothes. 

Spin Master has signed on to create action figures, dolls and playsets and Powerpuff costumes and accessories for both kids and adults will be helmed by Disguise. Books will be published by North American company Penguin Young Readers Group. 

These products will be on hand in 2016.

Warner Home Video will be in charge of distributing the series as they had released the cartoon's feature film in 2002 as well. a

The original Powerpuff Girls captured the young audience when it premiered in 1996. Created by Craig McCracken, the story of kindergarten superheroes fighting villains like Roach Coach, Mojo Jojo, HIM, the Gangreen Gang and their male counterparts, the Rowdyruff Boys, was one of Cartoon Network's longest-running programs.
