Bryce Dallas Howard Marvel: Will ‘Spider-Man 3’ Gwen Stacy Return To Comics As Captain Marvel?

Ever since the Disney company revealed they'd be launching their first stand-alone female superhero film with "Captain Marvel," there has been a ton of controversy surrounding the casting as well as when she'd make her first appearance, as it's been said she might even be part of upcoming Netflix series "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" - but could Bruce Dallas Howard be Marvel's first superheroine?

This spring saw the release of the widely expected sequel to the 2012 "Avengers," directed once again by Joss Whedon and introducing characters played by the likes of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and the film received some heavy backlash about its supposedly mysoginistic portrayal of Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson - and Bryce Dallas Howard's Marvel appearance could change things.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first Bryce Dallas Howard Marvel appearance, as she played Peter Parker's high school sweetheart Gwen Stacy in the last film starring Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man - a role that would be later played by "The Help" co-star Emma Stone.

According to The Independent, though, for now Bryce Dallas Howard's Marvel return is only a dream in the actress' head, as the "Jurassic World" star recently gushed about how much she'd like to have a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), particularly playing Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the 2018 film.

The Huffington Post reports that Bryce Dallas Howard's Marvel interest was peaked at the moment the role was mentioned to her, half-jokingly asking if it was possible to start a campaign that would get her the role.

"Will you write that? Will you write that please? Yes, let's start a campaign now. That would be rad," the actress told Cinema Blend. "Those movies are so fantastic, because talk about just these incredibly drawn characters! That's the joy of the comics, is that you fall in love with these characters and it's who they are that carries you from journey to journey to journey... it's not just about set pieces. It's really about who these people are, and so, yes, I just would love to be in a Marvel film."

Fans have discussed other possible contendants for the role such as Emily Blunt and Howard's lookalike actress Jessica Chastain - but it's a fact that Bryce Dallas Howard's Marvel interest is present!
