Hawkgirl The CW: DC Comics TV Universe Expands After ‘Arrow’ And ‘Flash’ With Ciara Renée!

Ever since "Arrow" began airing on the fall of 2012, it seems like the DC Comics television universe has expanded well beyond expectations, and this season saw the beginning of the tie-in show "Flash," prequel "Gotham" as well as next fall's upcoming "Supergirl" - and it seems "Hawkgirl" is The CW's next project!

Although there has been no official confirmation as of yet, rumors of a "Hawkgirl" The CW show have been circulating for a few days, weeks after Ciara Renée was cast as Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl in the comic books) in what had been deemed as a spinoff.

According to iO9, the channel has already announced that they'll be debuting a show dedicated to "Legends of Tomorrow" next year, taking different characters from each show, including the "Hawkgirl" The CW debut featuring Renée, though the current plan seems to point that, if the show turns out to be a success, the character would get her own stand-alone series.

SpoilerTV was the first to break the story of the "Hawkgirl" The CW show, stating that the project's currently very early in development, and it's still even unsure whether it'll be greenlit or even whether the events of the show will happen before or after the ones in "Legends of Tomorrow" - in any case, if it were to happen, reports say it'd get a straight-to-series order and skip the pilot stage.

As Deadline reported back in March, the "Hawkgirl" The CW debut would see her joining other DC Comics favorites such as Ray Palmer/The Atom (played by Brandon Routh, who interestingly enough played Superman on the big screen back in 2006), Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) as Black Canary.

If the "Hawkgirl" The CW spinoff were to really happen, it would be the second female-driven DC show (after "Supergirl," revolving around Superman's cousin) and the first for the network.
