Mario Batali’s NYC Restaurant Del Posto, Pays $1.15M in Lawsuit Settlement

Mario Batali's famous NYC restaurant, Del Posto, has worked out a lawsuit settlement with 31 of its employees, who had sued for tips and overtime that were withheld. Del Posto and its owners however denied the workers' allegations.

Del Posto is one of three NYC restaurants owned by Batali and his partners. A five-course meal at Del Posto costs $115 per person, and $145 for the tasting menu.

According to BusinessWeek, the lawyer for the workers said the agreement now gives all non-managerial employees at Del Posto, not just the plaintiffs, three paid sick days and five paid vacation days per year.

In May this year, Batali agreed to pay $5.25 million over another lawsuit filed on behalf of employees at Batali's numerous restaurants, in some cases as far back as 2004 and can cover up to 1,100 employees. The restaurants named in this lawsuit include Tarry Lodge, Babbo, Del Posto, Casa Mono, Bar Jamon, Esca, Lupa and Otto.
