T-Mobile is the only major carrier in the U.S. that has yet to sign an agreement with Apple in order to sell the new iPhone 5, or any of the older iPhone devices for that matter.
Most likely however, they are not even going to pursue such an agreement, as the company recently launched a campaign to get iPhone owners as well as owners of other unlocked non-T-Mobile devices to bring their own device for promotional plans with unlimited calls, texts, and what the company touts as the only nationwide 4G data network.
The advertisement featuring an iPhone with a broken chain was pulled however, after what experts believe to have been pressure from Apple or competitors warning about using its product in marketing without prior agreement.
As a pioneer, the iPhone 5 is the first device to accommodate the new nano SIM card, and none of the older versions such as the micro SIM or the regular SIM cards will not fit. In an apparent move towards accommodating iPhone users who wants to sign up with T-Mobile, the company has announced it is indeed making the new nano SIM card available.
T-Mobile is currently reframing its network by freeing up the AWS band for their coming 4G LTE network, and moving their HSPA+ service to the new 1900 MHz band, so that the carrier is able to accommodate the iPhone and other unlocked devices on their higher 3G and 4G speeds, whereas users had previously only been able to receive the outdated EDGE speeds.
When the iPhone 5 was made available for pre-order, less than a week before its release, the device sold two million units within 24 hours, according to an Apple press release on September 17. On the weekend after its release, the company had sold five million units of the device.
