Amanda Bynes Makes A Rare Public Appearance At Fashion Designer Michael Costello's Party

Amanda Bynes, who hasn't been photographed in public since she dined at Craig's in L.A. June 4, made a surprise appearance at fashion designer Michael Costello and Style PR's capsule collection launch party in L.A. Thursday night. Wearing a tight white dress and oversized sunglasses, the blond star talked to Costello, looked at a few dresses and seemed to be in "good spirits," an attendee reports.

Bynes, 29, attended with a few friends and was not "out of control." Amanda was spotted leaving with her face shielded by some large dark sunglasses. The former actress wore a form fitting white dress and smiled and waved as she exited. Bynes, who announced her retirement from acting in 2012, has kept a low profile for most of 2015.

Late last year, the former child star tweeted she had toured the University of Southern California and hoped to transfer from FIDM's Orange County campus, where she had been studying merchandise production. It's unknown if Bynes will go through with her plans to transfer. From 2012 to 2014, the one-time Nickelodeon star suffered a series of highly publicized personal and legal setbacks. Since then, with the help of her parents, it seems Bynes is getting her life back on track.

In 2007, Bynes described herself as Jewish, and also stated: "As far as religion, I was raised both. I learned about both Judaism and Catholicism. My parents said it was up to me to decide [which faith to adhere to] when I grew up. I'm sort of a spiritual person anyway. I haven't decided yet on a religion. I don't know yet exactly what I believe." Bynes is interested in illustration and fashion design. Bynes has previously had her own fashion line sold nationwide and moved from Los Angeles to New York in order to facilitate her fashion career. In 2008, Bynes briefly dated Seth MacFarlane after voicing a character in an episode of MacFarlane's show Family Guy.
