Where Chefs Eat: A Guide to 400 Chefs' Favorite Restaurants

A guide to chefs’ favorite restaurants, Where Chefs Eat, has been published by Phaidon Press. Over 400 world’s top chefs contributed to this 700-page compendium project.

From bargain noodle joints to high-end restaurants; late-night haunts to all-day breakfasts; neighborhood eateries to destination restaurants, Where Chefs Eat has more than 2,000 personal recommendations with maps for where to eat around the globe.

“The plan was to ask the chefs where they liked to eat. Thinking about today’s chef – the hours they keep, the miles they travel and their passion for burgers and beluga caviar in equal measure we came up with eight questions,” the publisher explained how the book was made. “Chefs are a busy bunch, so, when we emailed the questions to everyone on our list, we weren’t expecting to receive many replies. How wrong we were. From Australia to England and the United States, chef after chef replied answering the questions with insightful, funny and enthusiastic comments.”

Chef contributors include: Hugh Acheson, Ferran Adria, Alex Atala, Michael Anthony, John Besh, Daniel Boulud, April Bloomfield, Heston Blumenthal, Sean Brock, David Chang, Wylie Dufresne, Gabrielle Hamilton, Fergus Henderson, Daniel Humm, Corey Lee, Anito Lo, Matt Molina, Carlo Mirarchi, Magnus Nilsson, Ken Oringer, Daniel Patterson, Rene Redzepi, Andy Ricker, Eric Ripert, Marcus Samuelsson, Ben Shewry, Craig Stoll, and hundreds more. The book is mostly Europe-focused but also covers Asia, Africa, Australia and North and South America.

Where Chefs Eat iPad/iPhone app also will be released later this month.
