‘Winds Of Winter’ News: Stannis Baratheon Alive In George R. R. Martin Books, ‘Game Of Thrones’ Author: Stop Pestering Over Release Date!

Now that the HBO series has finally caught up with the books about the fictional continent of Westeros, fans of the novels are craving more and more for "Winds of Winter" news, as there's still no announcement about when the book's being released.

While many wait for the book's release date, other "Winds of Winter" news include how author George R. R. Martin recently released a new chapter of the upcoming book, besides that there was a good chance the series would finish the story before he did - and, in fact, he's fine with that and doesn't feel pressured to hurry up.

According to iDigital Times, the latest "Winds of Winter" news stems from a recent fan Q&A, when Martin took to his blog to respond a few fan questions - including when someone asked whether Stannis Baratheon was dead.

While the last released episode of "Game of Thrones" saw Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) probably killing Stannis (Stephen Dillane), in the books he's said to be dead; Ramsay Bolton sends a letter to Jon Snow saying that his "false king is dead" - but this "Winds of Winter" news confirm that Bolton was lying.

Winter is Coming reports that this is specifically "Winds of Winter" news because the author said that it wasn't altogether that Stannis was alive, confirming only that he remained around in his books - there's still no word on whether this applies for the series as well.

According to Vine Report, Martin has also apparently gotten sick of people asking him all the time when his next book will be released, recently joking on the subject at the Sanquan science fiction convention in Spokane, Washington.

"Don't ask me when the book is going to be done - I'll ask my minions to lop your head off," answered Martin when asked for more "Winds of Winter" news.
