Mark Ruffalo Reveals Why the Hulk Won't Be in Captain America: Civil War

Marvel's next big tenpole, Captain America: Civil War, is quickly shaping up to be a massive showdown between the MCU's biggest names. Aside from the principles like Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow, the film will also feature the likes of Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Vision.

On top of all this, Civil War will serve as the official launching pad for newcomers like Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. It's a star studded roster, but there are a few big names missing, most notably that of Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner and Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

Plot wise, it would make sense for an Asgardian God like Thor to be absent from the quarrels of a group of humans, but what of the more earth-restricted Banner? Surely a gamma powered force of nature like the Hulk would serve as a powerful ally that either side would try to secure.

Well Mark Ruffalo recently spoke to badtaste.it to explain, The Hulk's absence from the events of Civil War. He says that he was originally slated to appear in the film, but Marvel axed his appearance for a important reasons. He says:

"The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie (Civil War), I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don't want to reveal where is he and why. I don't even know if Hulk will be back soon."

Hulk's disappearance likely won't be explained until The Avengers return for real in the two part Infinity War saga pegged for 2018 and 2019.

Until then we'll have to make due with the rest of the Marvel roster when Civil War hits theatres in May 2016.
