Steem Peanut Butter: Your Daily Dose of Caffeine in Peanutbutter

Need more than just a cup of coffee to fill your stomach and experience that caffeine buzz?  Well, this product innovation can take care of your caffeine fix and hunger at the same time.  The Massachusetts-based company, Steem, definitely got you covered.  Now, there's a new peanut butter that's heavily caffeinated, you won't need to drink another cup of coffee throughout the day.

As reported in Today, a Massachusetts-based company called Steem has created the first ever caffeinated peanut butter.  Yes, the peanut butter is caffeinated.  It is actually packed with caffeine equivalent to two cups of coffee in two tablespoons of peanut butter.  To be exact, that's 170 milligrams of caffeine in two table spoon serving.  Steem hopes to replace your second dose of caffeine with just a few scoops of its peanut butter.

Surprisingly, the Steem caffeinated peanut butter is just made of a handful of ingredients.  There's peanut oil, salt, peanuts and agave nectar with green-coffee extract for the caffeine kick.  This product is not recommended for children however.  Considering the amount of caffeine this product contains, children may unseemingly become active.  There's also an explicit warning that product is not suited for domestic animals as such are known not to properly digest caffeine.

According to Mashable, Chris Pettazoni and co-owneres Keith Barnofski and Andrew Brach came up with caffeinated peanut butter when the group were brainstorming about the long sought cure for hangovers.

"We messed around with the recipe off and on for a year or so," Pettazzoni said. "The release of energy was so much better from the PB that I stopped drinking coffee completely."

The kick in caffeine is released slowly unlike when you drink a cup of coffee and get it all in one gulp.  Caffeine is released together with the natural slow digestion of peanut butter.  The caffeinated peanut butter hopes to replace your craving for a second or third cup of coffee in a day.

The product is sold for $4.99 per bottle on Steem's official website.  A handful of stores in Western Massachusetts, California, Florida and Arizona have started selling the caffeinated peanut butter.  The product is said to have been likened by the CrossFit crowd.

Would you replace your second cup of coffee for the caffeinated peanut butter?  It is natural to feel hesitant to try anything out of the ordinary.  However, Barnofski said, "It's something they've never seen before or never thought of before, so they almost think it's not real, but then they taste it and become a believer."
