Dakota Johnson of 'Fifty Shades Darker' Wants Adult Role to be ‘Funny’?

Dakota Johnson may be playing an adult role with the character, Anastasia Steele on the "Fifty Shades" trilogy, but a new interview reveals the actress wants to insert some humor into Ms. Steele.

In an interview with Elle Magazine, the 26-year-old actress admitted that she wanted, or more specifically, she needed Anastasia to be funny. The reason? She wanted her character to be more "relatable" for the viewers.

"I needed Anastasia to be funny, if you can't laugh during a movie like that, you're f**ked, literally. You need to have something that everyone can relate to." Johnson told Elle.

Anastasia Steele is a young, impressionistic and awkward college graduate. She later falls in love and gets drawn into a BDSM relationship with a handsome and young business mogul named Christian Grey.

It seems that Johnson's take on Steele has been more than helpful, as critics are praising her for her performance in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

An ABC News review commended Dakota for portraying Anastasia with the perfect blend of innocence and confidence, even calling her the best thing on the first instalment of the film series, according to Australia Network News.

Leslie Mann was also mentioned on E! Online having awarded Johnson with the Calvin Klein Spotlight award and praising her performance on "Fifty Shades of Grey."

"In the movie she too plays a virgin and you believe it-but in real life she is not. I feel like she would eat [Christian Grey]," said Mann.

"Fifty Shades Darker" will be shown in theatres on February 10, 2017.

Other stars cast for the role of Anastasia Steele include Shailene Woodley, Analeigh Tipton, Emma Watson and Alicia Vikander. Having begun the "Fifty Shades" film franchise with Dakota Johnson, she is set to join co-star Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) on "Fifty Shades Darker," reported Movie News Guide.

The new director for "Fifty Shades Darker" is James Foley of "House of Cards." However, according to the Franchise Herald, production may be put to a halt with Dornan and Johnson asking for a bigger paycheck on the next instalment.

"The word is that they're asking for at least $20 million each, plus a percentage of the backend, which could be substantial if the next film is as big as the first," according to an insider, as revealed to OK! Magazine. "They're indispensable to producers, and they know it!"

In the meantime, Dakota Johnson will be appearing on the upcoming film, "How to be Single," set for release on February 12, 2016, according to The Inquisitr.
