Paula Deen To Open Store In Buffalo As She Repairs Image After Racism Controversy

Guess who's back?

After months of keeping a low profile in the wake of a race- and gender-discrimination lawsuit this summer, celebrity chef Paula Deen announced she'll be opening a new headquarters and Paula Deen Foods store in a Buffalo, N.Y. suburb, this February.

According to Grub Street, the queen of butter will host a series of cooking shows to debut her newest venture. The shop will be styled to resemble Deen's home kitchen and offer products from her eponymous line of goods, including Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Mix and spice-rub blends for pork butts.

Deen's exclusive product line also includes some of her newer, healthier offerings, like Paula Deen Jalapeño Tortilla Chips, Paula Deen Sugar Free Coconut Clusters, and Paula Deen Raspberry Champagne Salad Dressing.

The celebrity chef has made just one public appearance since the lawsuit revealed an alleged history of making racial slurs, which resulted in the termination of various television and endorsement deals.

In September, the chef made a first public appearance in Texas and received a standing ovation when she ascended the stage to join her sons, Jamie and Bobby Deen, at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show in Houston.

The chef's appearance turned out to be pretty emotional experience, with the 66-year-old broke down into tears.

"These are tears of joy, y'all," she said. "This is my first time out in three months. The one place I wanted to make my first step out was in Texas. You are forgiving folks with hearts as big as your state."
