Mariah Carey's record companies, Universal Music Group and Island Def Jam are said to be facing a lawsuit over a cancelled photo session.
Management agency, Jed Root, reportedly sued the big bosses of Mariah's record labels after the 'Hero' hit maker allegedly cancelled a photoshoot session with the photographer Michael Thompson, TheJasmineBrand reported.
According to the media outlet, the record label owed Thompson $150,000 for his services and an additional $228,000 for accrued expenses, including the glam team costs, hairstylist, props and airfare for the entire staff. An executive at the agency billed the record label $171,000, which was paid in full.
However, according to the agency as per stated in their contract, if ever there is a cancellation of photoshoot the labels owed them 100% of the total amount due. Jed Root claimed they were informed about the cancellation on the day of the scheduled shoot.
Now, they claimed that the record label still owed them $169,600 for the cancelled photoshoot. But the record companies argued over the contract, claiming that there was a separate contract that stated the agency will receive the full amount after the photographs were delivered to their company.
The record label said they never agreed to the terms of the agency and demanded that the lawsuit to be dismissed.
On September 28th legal docs filed against UMG Recordings and Island Def Jam have reached a settlement with Jed Root to dismiss all accusations against the record labels but the agreement between parties remained confidential.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey is set to take the stage on November 26 for the celebration of the 89th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The singer is slated to perform alongside 'American Idol' season 6 winner Jordin Sparks and Daughtry. Other performers include NHL athletes Mark and Marty Owen, Disney 'Descendents' stars Sofia Carson and Dove Cameron.
