Common Things You're Doing Wrong In The Kitchen

Learning how to keep your kitchen up and running has been a challenge to some moms out there. It's like she learns it from her mom, who learned those things from her mom, too - some sort of 'maternal osmosis', as they say. Well, you basically need to know these hacks to help you correct those common things you do wrong in the kitchen. Some kitchen hacks may even be an 'AHA' to some of you.

1. Refrigerating all your fresh veggies, herbs and fruits

Vegetables, fruits and herbs are usually tossed right away to your fridge. However, you can actually keep them fresher and longer if you only know which among them should require cold or room temperature. Tomato, potato, orange, basil, garlic, onion, egg, honey and oil can simply be kept dry and safe at your countertops.

Strawberries, apples, peaches and other fruits that are placed in the fridge should only be washed when you are to serve and eat them. Fresh, green leafy veggies must remain unwashed and wrapped in a paper towel to keep it from rotting quickly. Herbs like mint, rosemary, thyme and sage may just be put in a vase or jar that can hold them dry at a room temperature.

Likewise, fresh milk should never be placed on the fridge door as it requires to be set in the coldest part of your refrigerator. More fridge tips are found here.

2. Crowding the pasta and rinsing the noodles after draining

You'd like to save energy or gas consumption so you may want to cook your pasta in a smaller pot. Thus, crowding it has a downside: you make gummy noodles that you'd probably hate. Adding oil to keep your pasta from sticking while boiling is also a myth for you just have to stir it every a few minutes. And, don't forget to season the pasta with salt as it adds flavor.

Now, if you've got some them 'al dente', you surely want the sauce to remain clingy to the noodles, right? And the best way to do this is to never rinse the noodles after boiling and draining as you wash away the starch.

3. Cleaning your kitchen with usual household cleaning products

Instead of using these commercial household products that can even do more harm than good due to its some harmful ingredients, you can go for these inexpensive and easy-to-use natural alternatives. You may try using vinegar, baking soda, lemon and lime in springcleaning and deodorizing your kitchens.

Now, the next time you head your way to the kitchen, you can never be wrong.
