EA Sports UFC 2 Is Coming In Spring 2016

EA Sports is stepping back into the Octagon. The company has just unveiled the trailer for UFC 2, the next instalment in their mixed-martial arts gaming franchise.

EA first broke the news via Twitter, posting this to their official account, "the wait is finally over! Tune in tomorrow." Read the tweet.

The released trailer is pretty light on gameplay footage, but does a good job of showing the new modes and features coming to the game. An overhauled knockout physics engine, scores of new animations, more robust player creation tools, deeper coaching / training systems, and additional online and offline modes are just some of the things you can expect from this installment.

"The payoff is the smoothest, most responsive set of movements ever available in an MMA game, that will add new dimensions to your stand up, ground game, and everything in between," says the video's narrator.

The clip also dropped hints at the inclusion of EA's ever popular Ultimate Team mode. The collectible card game has been a mainstay of its other sports titles over the years so it wouldn't be a surprise to see it make its way into this one.

UFC 2 is coming in 'Spring 2016' according to the announcement.

Fans are no doubt hoping this follow-up will be a better outing than EA's first go around. The first UFC game released in June 2014 opened to lackluster reviews and was plagued by bugs and other issues in the succeeding weeks. To their credit, developer EA Canada was able to sort out most of these problems and kept the game fresh with new content updates.

Here's hoping the team have learned from the past title and deliver a truly hard-hitting sequel.
