Notoriously private actress Zooey Deschanel has had a big year when it comes to her personal life, having gotten engaged, married and had her first child with Zooey Deschanel in less than a year - and now it has come out that the beautiful brunette also converted to the religion of Zooey Deschanel's husband, Judaism.
Classic film stars Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor once converted to Judaism after marrying (Monroe was briefly Jewish during her marriage with Arthur Miller, while Taylor converted for third husband Mike Todd and remained faithful until her death), and now another woman known for her beauty and talents has taken the plunge for love, as the "New Girl" star has chosen to adopt the religion of Zooey Deschanel's husband.
According to an exclusive story by Us Weekly, ahead of Deschanel's wedding to Pechenik and while she was still heavily pregnant with daughter Elsie Otter, the star decided to take on the religion of the man who was about to become Zooey Deschanel's husband.
"Zooey converted to Judaism for Jacob," a source close to the Hollywood couple told the publication, The Daily Mail reports, after the Emmy Award nominee decided to take up the religion of Zooey Deschanel's husband; a second source said that the conversion was a great decision for the two, as "they're loving the baby and marriage."
The New York Daily News reports that there are a few more recent stories of celebrities changing their religions for their spouses besides that of Zooey Deschanel and husband Jacob: Katie Holmes studied Scientology while she was with Tom Cruise, Isla Fisher converted to Judaism ahead of marrying Sacha Baron Cohen, Janet Jackson converted to Islam for husband Wissam Al Mana and Elizabeth Banks converted to Judaism for her husband, Max Handelman.
