Zayn Malik to One Direction: 'That's not music I would listen to'

Zayn Malik has revealed the real reason why he decided to quit from One Direction.

In his very first interview as a solo artist, the singer talked about his new music and his former life when he was still part of 1D, the biggest boy band today. Zayn Malik revealed he wants to reach his fans and other people the right way.

"A big part of why I left the band is I made the realization that it wasn't actually about [being the biggest] anymore," said Malik.

Undeniably, the popularity of his former band and their financial accomplishments made his life comfortable but he decided not to make it a priority anymore and just make the music he loves.

The 22-year-old English singer and songwriter admitted that being part of One Direction gave him limitations and restrictions. The 'What Makes You Beautiful' singer felt that he couldn't express his creativity within the band. He couldn't also explore more on R&B which is actually the genre he likes.

"If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as fuck, so they could use that version," the singer shared.

The young heartthrob probably had a hard time because his music was limited. Zayn Malik revealed that it wasn't him.

"It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people. As much as we were the biggest, most famous boy band in the world, it felt weird. We were told to be happy about something that we weren't happy about," exposed the singer.

Shockingly, Zayn Malik also said he is not a huge fan of his former band. Though he loved their adventures together, he admitted that One Direction songs are not the kind of music he would listen to. He wouldn't even want to listen to their songs while at a party with his girl.
